Jeffrey Schlupp shares update as West Brom transfer links intensify
Jeffrey Schlupp has taken to social media to issue a training update amid rumours of his potential move to West Brom this summer.
Schlupp struggled for game time at Crystal Palace last season, and so was mooted with a move away in the winter after only making 12 Premier League appearances in the first-half of the campaign.
Coventry City and Stoke City each wanted to sign Schlupp in January, as revealed by Football Insider, but Celtic soon emerged as front-runners for his signature, and they completed his loan capture just before the window slammed shut.
The 32-year-old made 18 appearances in all competitions as Brendan Rodgers’ side cruised to a fourth successive Scottish Premiership title, but Schlupp did receive criticism from some Celtic fans for his performance in their loss against arch-rivals Rangers in March.
His time in Scotland came to an end in May, and Football Insider revealed that same month that former club Leicester City had shown an interest in re-signing Schlupp following their relegation to the second-tier.
He departed Palace at the end of his contract last month, and to follow on from the Foxes’ interest, Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (9 July) that West Brom are now plotting a move to sign Schlupp as a free-agent this summer.

Schlupp shares training update on social media
West Brom are planning to rebuild their squad under new manager Ryan Mason, and he sees the former Eagles man’s experience and versatility as a key addition to his plans at The Hawthorns.
The 32-year-old has not found a club yet, but is clearly keeping busy in the gym preparing for another season of action amid that interest from both Leicester and the Baggies.
He took to Instagram stories on Thursday (10 July) to share an update of him training as a free agent with a coaching academy, alongside a caption of three fire emojis.

Schlupp would be a great addition for West Brom
Football Insider verdict
Schlupp’s career has probably gone slightly under the radar, as he added an FA Cup winners medal and Scottish Premiership title to his collection of silverware last season, which includes a Premier League title from his time at Leicester.
At 32-years-old he clearly still has a lot to give, and his versatility in being able to play pretty much anywhere across the pitch will be a huge selling point to teams that are interested in his services this summer.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |

West Brom feels like the right fit for him, especially considering that they have lost some seniority and experience within their squad recently after the likes of Semi Ajayi, John Swift and Grady Diangana were released at the end of their respective contracts.
New boss Mason only has Callum Styles and Gianluca Frabotta to call upon at left-back right now, with the latter being massively out of favour under Carlos Corberan, Tony Mowbray and James Morrison last term.
There is certainly space, then, to accommodate a player like Schlupp who will surely still be good enough to be a regular starter in the Championship, and the Baggies should move to sign him before another club comes in with an offer.
