Jeremy Clarkson delivers hilarious response to Liverpool defeat against Real Madrid
Celebrity Jeremy Clarkson delivered a brutal putdown of Liverpool after they suffered a defeat at the hands of Real Madrid on Saturday night.
The Reds were beaten 3-1 in the Champions League final in Kiev and it was a night to forget for goalkeeper Loris Karius, who made two epic blunders in net.
Mohamed Salah’s injury heartache in the first-half knocked the stuffing out of the Merseyside club and 2018 is likely to be remembered as the Gareth Bale final, with the substitute scoring twice to secure the win and one was an outrageous overhead kick.
Liverpool goalkeeper Karius has been subject to widespread criticism and former Top Gear presenter Clarkson has even poked fun at him on social media.
“Dear Liverpool. I’m available,” he wrote on Instagram.
Football Insider verdict:
Karius made two epic blunders on arguably the biggest night of his footballing career and it’s hard not to feel for the German. The goalkeeper gifted Karim Benzema the opening goal of the game with a poor through that was intercepted from close-range and ricocheted into an empty net. Liverpool’s player of the night Sadio Mane did draw them level from a corner, but Bale stepped up off the bench to steal the headlines. The Welshman scored a ludicrous volley that will go down in history, but his second goal was an effort from long-range that went straight through the gloves of Karius. Manager Jurgen Klopp now has some major work to do with his goalkeeper, who will be shot of confidence after he cost his side on the biggest stage. Karius had managed to cement his spot as the Liverpool number one in the second half of the season, but it may now be a surprise if he is still around going into the next campaign.
