Joao Felix: Chelsea stance on deal revealed after new talks – sources
Chelsea are continuing to pursue Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Spanish giants have been trying to sell the forward in new talks.
Chelsea had thought they were signing Samu Omorodion, but that deal fell through at the final stage which has impacted Conor Gallagher’s transfer.
The England international was set to head in the opposite direction, but Madrid now needs to sell a player to fund that move.
This has opened the door for Felix to potentially return to Stamford Bridge, and the Portugal international is open to the idea.
Chelsea are said to be working hard to bring in more players before deadline day, and Felix is part of that.
The Blues have also been pushing to sign Victor Osimhen this summer, but a deal for Felix is believed to be more realistic.
Chelsea could welcome back Joao Felix on a permanent deal
Felix has struggled to secure a place in the starting lineup for Atletico Madrid, which led to him spending last season on loan at Barcelona and the second half of the previous campaign at Chelsea.
The 24-year-old made 20 appearances for the Premier League club during his loan spell, scoring four goals.
Last season, the versatile attacker showcased his qualities in La Liga by scoring seven goals and providing three assists.

Felix returning to Stamford Bridge could potentially open the exit doors for Raheem Sterling, who Juventus are monitoring.
In other news, Bashir Humphreys ‘is ready’ to complete Leeds move.
