Tottenham players are thrilled as Rodrigo Bentancur signs a new contract

On Friday, 3 October, Tottenham announced a new deal for Rodrigo Bentancur, who has made five Premier League appearances this term.

The midfielder celebrated the news via Instagram as he wrote: “Very happy and grateful for this new opportunity to continue my career at this great club! Thank you all for the support and to my family for always being there at every moment!

I promise to give my best always and I wish to win more titles in this institution!

Palhinha responded to Bentancur‘s message by commenting with a heart-eyes emoji.

Joao Palhinha will be a long-term asset for Spurs

Bentancur had attracted transfer interest from Atletico Madrid, so Frank has made a significant step towards future-proofing his squad by handing the 28-year-old a new deal.

Palhinha has performed well this season

If Tottenham sign Palhinha permanently, the 30-year-old is set to be a key asset for them in the long-term, having performed well so far this season.

The former Fulham man has notched three goals in 10 appearances across all competitions, while he has also proven his defensive tenacity alongside Bentancur.

Palhinha has impressively won 40 duels in the Premier League this season, helping Tottenham earn three wins from their first six games in the top flight.

The man on loan from Bayern has scored two goals in his last two starts, and Frank would love to see him maintain that form in the upcoming clash with Leeds United on Saturday, 4 October.

Tottenham’s defensive solidity has largely been down to the changes that Frank has made since Ange Postecoglou’s departure, but Palhinha’s efforts have also been a major help.
