Joe Aribo ‘doing his bit’ for Rangers after source’s 7-figure reveal – expert
Frank McAvennie has claimed Rangers “need every penny they can get” as they are set to secure £4million in add-ons for the sale of Joe Aribo.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said the add-ons were “guaranteed money” for the Gers.
On Friday (30 September), sources told this site that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are confident they will secure the £4m in add-ons from the 26-year-old’s move to Southampton.
The midfielder signed for the Premier League club in the summer for an initial fee of £6m, rising to a potential £10m.
The extra £4m is dependent on appearances and the Ibrox club are now confident they will earn the top-up cash.
The Nigeria international has featured in all of the Saints’ Premier League games so far this season and has been on the scoresheet in two of those games.
McAvennie said the Gers will have known Aribo was going to secure the extra money.
“I think they will have known Aribo was going to go down there and do it,” he told Football Insider.

“He was Rangers’ best player at certain points last year. He has gone to Southampton and he is doing well. They seem to buy a lot of players from Scotland, it is a breeding ground for them. Aribo could move on he is that good.
“The add-ons will have been guaranteed money because Aribo is a great player. Barring injury, I am sure he’ll make it. And £4million is a lot of money so he is doing his bit for Rangers. He is not there any more but he is getting them money. Rangers need every penny they can get I would think.“
