Joe Hart to be axed from Celtic XI amid ‘dramatic’ claim – McAvennie
Frank McAvennie has tipped Ange Postecoglou to make “dramatic” changes to the Celtic first XI on Wednesday (31 August) – including Benjamin Siegrist to make his debut in place of Joe Hart in goal.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker suggested Wednesday’s cup tie against Ross County will be a “good time” for the 30-year-old to make his debut for the Bhoys.
The former Switzerland youth international has been an unused substitute in all of the Glasgow club’s Premiership games so far this season.
On 21 June, the Parkhead club confirmed the signing of the goalkeeper from Dundee United.
Siegrist put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Joe Hart has been Celtic’s first choice between the sticks.
The former England international has started every game for the Bhoys this season.
Hart suffered a head injury in the first half of the 9-0 win over Dundee United on Sunday (28 August).
The 35-year-old was able to play the full 90 minutes at Tannadice.
McAvennie suggested the head knock will encourage Postecoglou to play Siegrist for the League Cup game on Wednesday.
“He’ll come in there’s no doubt about that,” he told Football Insider.
“Joe will be wanting to play every game. He got a kick in the head and that will be a good time to leave him out. I think you can leave him out.

“We didn’t have a good backup last year, no disrespect to Scott Bain. But Siegrist will be desperate for a game. I think the team will change dramatically but I don’t think it will be to anyone’s loss.
“He’ll be trying to impress to get his place for Saturday. That’s all you can do.“
