Joelinton responds to Bruno Guimaraes’s message after win vs Man United

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes posted a video of his own personal highlights reel after their 4-1 win over Manchester United.

Guimaraes rounded off a massive win for the Magpies with a thumping strike past Altay Bayindir in the 77th minute at St James’ Park, scoring Newcastle’s fourth as they routed Ruben Amorim’s hapless side.

Harvey Barnes had already been at the double to put the game beyond Man United’s reach after Sandro Tonali’s volley in the first half, as Newcastle maintained their push towards Champions League qualification.

With Eddie Howe missing the game after being hospitalised with pneumonia, Jason Tindall led the Magpies to their fourth straight win, moving them up to fourth in the Premier League table as a result.

Guimaraes highlight reel gets one-word Joelinton reaction

As has been the case so often this season, Guimaraes was at the centre of everything good about Newcastle‘s play against Man United, being the midfield lynchpin of a dominant, one-sided display.

Football Insider revealed that Newcastle will be well-placed to keep hold of Guimaraes, Tonali and Alexander Isak if they achieve a Champions League place, and the Brazilian looks to be going nowhere.

Newcastle have destiny in their own hands in the race for Champions League football

Guimaraes took to Instagram on Monday (14 April) with a video displaying his best moments against the Red Devils on Sunday (13 April), with the vast majority being all-action midfield play as well as his well-taken strike late on.

Captioning his post with “A lovely day at home yesterday”, Guimaraes received a comment from his Brazilian compatriot Joelinton, who replied with “Craque” – meaning “star” in Portuguese.

Bruno Guimaraes future the least of Newcastle’s worries

While moving back into the Champions League places – of which the Premier League will have five next term – will provide a huge cash windfall for Newcastle, it may not be enough to keep the likes of Tonali.

Former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown also told Football Insider that Champions League regulars Arsenal have joined Liverpool in the race to sign their England winger Anthony Gordon.

Football Insider also revealed that Newcastle have been leapfrogged in the race to sign Dean Huijsen, but in terms of retentions, it appears Guimaraes is one player they’re all but certain to keep hold of.
