John Hartson posts Twitter verdict on Rangers-Warburton saga
By Will Butcher
John Hartson has claimed that Mark Warburton was not capable of coping with the Rangers job as his time at the club came to a messy end.
The Scottish giants announced on Friday night that they had accepted the resignations of Warburton, along with his assistant David Weir and head of recruitment Frank McParland.
Former Celtic striker Hartson claimed on his personal Twitter account that the former Brentford manager has “simply not been up to the job”.
The Telegraph claimed that Warburton had tendered his resignation after expecting to take over at Championship outfit Nottingham Forest.
However, Rangers were then shocked when Warburton, as well as Weir and McParland, asked if they could stay in their positions on Ibrox after Forest decided to install Gary Brazil until the end of the season.
The Gers are now without a manager as they play host to Morton in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup on Sunday, with the Gers’ official website declaring Graeme Murty is set to take over in an interim base.
Warburton’s resignation comes after a dismal season at Ibrox that has seen the Gers fail to mount a title challenge against Old Firm rivals Celtic, and have now dropped into third.
A whole host of disappointing signings also placed the Londoner’s job under threat for the duration of the season, which has now finally come to an abrupt end.
In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton has also had his say on the developments at Ibrox.
