John Lundstram: Pundit shares ‘massive’ prediction after ‘surprise’ Rangers development

John Lundstram has what it takes to establish himself as a key player at Rangers.

That’s according to former Sheffield United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s recent good form.

Lundstram, 28, scored Rangers’ third goal in their impressive 4-2 win over Borussia Dortmund on Thursday (17 February).

The midfielder has recently fought his way into Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s starting XI after struggling for game time since his summer move.

Lundstram joined Rangers on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 after his deal with Sheffield United expired.

Kenny, who watched plenty of Lundstram during his time at Bramall Lane, insists he can establish himself as one of the Gers’ best players.

“This run of form is no surprise,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“John is a player who performed well in the Premier League. He’s a Premier League quality player.

“For whatever reason, he wouldn’t sign a new deal with Sheffield United and he’s gone to Rangers.

“You can understand why when you see him scoring goals in the Europa League against Dortmund.

“I think he will be a massive player for Rangers. It surprised me that it’s taken this long for him to find his form.

“I know it’s a different league but he was doing really well in the Premier League.

“But it’s a new club, he’s had two different managers and he looks like he’s enjoying his football again.

“That’s the main thing, if he’s enjoying himself, who knows how well he can play?”

Lundstram has made 29 appearances for Rangers this season.

He has scored three goals and provided one assist.
