John McGinn sends message to Morgan Rogers after Aston Villa exit whisper

John McGinn has sent a new message to Morgan Rogers following his performance for Aston Villa against Frankfurt amid ongoing speculation about his future.

Villa have endured a difficult summer so far given their financial difficulties, leading to talk that at least one first-team player could be sold to raise funds.

Both McGinn and Rogers are among those who have been linked with moves away despite their key roles under Unai Emery at Villa Park.

Football Insider revealed on 10 July that Aston Villa have rejected an enquiry for McGinn from Everton and told the Merseyside club their captain is not for sale.

Meanwhile, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man City could re-sign Rogers and have been keeping tabs on his progress.

Despite this, Villa remain confident of keeping their best players at the club and have no plans to lose either McGinn or Rogers before the window closes.

John McGinn sends Morgan Rogers message after Aston Villa draw

Despite ongoing transfer speculation, Emery’s side kicked off their pre-season tour of the USA with a 2-2 draw against Bundesliga outfit Frankfurt in Louisville.

Ollie Watkins opened the scoring for Villa, before Elye Wahi equalised to send the sides into half-time at 1-1, and goals from Rogers and Ebu Bekir meant they were tied at full-time.

Taking to social media following the game, Villa shared an image of Rogers celebrating his goal in McGinn’s typical style in a tribute to the captain.

McGinn immediately responded via his Instagram story as he wrote: “Don’t mind it” alongside a laughing emoji, with spirits remaining high at Villa Park.

Forest would be prepared to move ahead of rivals for his signature, with the allure of European football and willingness to spend big giving them an advantage.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 18 July that Aston Villa could accept £50million for Ramsey which would be a huge boost financially.
