John McGinn set for new Aston Villa role after latest deal agreed – Agbonlahor
John McGinn’s versatility will be crucial for the transfer business at Aston Villa going into the new season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that McGinn’s ability to play in multiple positions will support new signings to settle at the club.
Football Insider revealed on 12 July that Oxlade-Chamberlain is in advanced talks to join the Midlands outfit, and the deal is now edging further closer.
Like Youri Tielemans, who completed a free transfer to Villa last Saturday, the Englishman is proven in the Premier League and capable of slotting straight into their team.
McGinn has just signed a new contract running until 2027, news of which had been revealed by Football Insider on 5th June.
Despite being a natural central mdifiedler, McGinn featured heavily on the wings last season, and this is something that Agbonlahor believes will continue, so new signings can be accommodated.
”McGinn can play in so many different positions,” he told Football Insider.
“He showed last season that he can play on the wings and also in the centre.

“I think next season his position will change game by game depending on who Villa are playing against.
“And if Villa signing a top winger then he could come back into the middle, but he can play as a creative midfielder, a sitting midfielder or box-to-box and he’s a top player so I am glad we have tied him down to a new contract.
