John McGinn’s stance on agreeing Aston Villa deal revealed after transfer blocked
John McGinn is “happy” at Aston Villa and keen to sign a new contract as he looks to continue his career at the highest level.
Everton were keen to bring McGinn to Merseyside in the summer and Newcastle also made contact over a deal for the 30-year-old.
But McGinn ended up staying at Villa after a move was blocked and remains a key member of the team during what has been a tricky start to the season for Unai Emery’s team.
The Midlands giants are now keen to extend the stay of the Scotland international as they bid to get back into the Champions League.

McGinn very happy at Aston Villa as contract talks ramp up
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Aston Villa are reportedly in contract talks with McGinn.
The 30-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of next season with Unai Emery eager to keep him at Villa Park for the foreseeable future.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “He’s happy at Villa Park, Aston Villa are very happy with him.
“He’s been an integral part of Unai Emery’s side and of the Villa side since joining, helping them win promotion, keeping them in the Premier League and playing in the Champions League last season as well.

“I think John McGinn probably sees himself playing at the highest level possible for a few more years yet. Now he’s still only 30 and still will feel he’s got a lot to offer.
“John McGinn’s still got two years left on his contract at Villa. Villa obviously fended off a bit of interest in the summer from some Premier League rivals.
“So, they’ll be doing everything they can to keep hold of John McGinn. I don’t think either party will be contemplating or thinking about a move away or a parting of the ways anytime soon.”
Morgan Rogers the next man to be tied down to long-term Aston Villa deal
Sources told Football Insider that Aston Villa have opened contract talks with Morgan Rogers.

The Englishman has had an extremely disappointing start to the season which has coincided with the Villains’ poor form.
The 23-year-old is currently contracted to the club until June 2030 yet the hierarchy are keen to tie him down to an extended deal as a deterrent to other Premier League rivals.
In his second full season at Villa Park, the former Middlesborough youngster will be looking to turn around his lethargic start to the campaign as he bids to be a part of the England 2026 World Cup squad next summer.
