John Souttar sends message to Rangers ‘brother’ as Ibrox exit confirmed
John Souttar has paid tribute to one of his now-former teammates following confirmation of their departure from Rangers at the end of this season.
With the ‘Gers having again fallen short of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race during the 2024/25 campaign, it looks set to be a busy summer as the club aim to put that right next time around.
American investors 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh are involved in a takeover of Rangers that looks set to be completed in the coming weeks, and there is set to be other changes as well.
Centre-back Leon Balogun has already confirmed he will be leaving the Ibrox club when his contract expires at the end of this season.
Meanwhile, Barry Ferguson will not be continuing to oversee first-team affairs following his spell in interim charge at his old club.
There has been heavy speculation that Steven Gerrard will be returning as Rangers manager for a second spell in charge.

Tom Lawrence set for Ibrox exit
Amid all that, it was also confirmed on Tuesday (20 May) that Tom Lawrence is among the players who will be leaving the club this summer, when his contract expires.
The attacking midfielder joined Rangers back in the summer of 2022, but has seen his three-year spell with the club blighted by injuries.

Even so, there were still some memorable moments, with the club posting of video of some of his key goals for the club on their Instagram page after confirming his imminent departure.
In response, Souttar was keen to show his affection for his departing teammate, by sharing that clip to his own story.
The centre-back then added a caption which simply read “My brother” before accompanying it with a blue heart emoji.

Rangers make the right decision with player departure
Football Insider Verdict
While some such as Souttar may be sad to see him go, the club have surely made the right decision in cutting ties with Lawrence, who never really got going in Scotland thanks to regular injuries.
This is another campaign where things have ended up being below-par for Rangers, and things simply have to change next season.
In order to do that they will have to improve the squad, and that requires them to move players on to make room for new arrivals.
Given his injury issues make him somewhat unreliable, Lawrence was always going to be an obvious candidate for a departure this summer.
