Jordan Pickford reacts to Sunderland announcement at Everton

Jordan Pickford has reacted to the latest announcement emerging out of Everton as David Moyes’ side prepare for a new season.

The Toffees are set to leave Goodison Park behind in an exciting move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with a new era beginning under the leadership of American franchise, The Friedkin Group.

A lot of exciting transfer rumours have emerged on Merseyside due to the new owners, and Football Insider also understands that Nick Cox is set to join from Man United next week as the technical director.

While the summer transfer window has closed briefly for the Club World Cup, preparations are being made ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with fixtures now available to the supporters.

Opening fixtures in August see the Toffees travel away to Leeds United and Wolves, sandwiching a home visit from Brighton, but it is their May fixture against Sunderland that has caught the eye.

Everton to welcome Sunderland to the Hill Dickinson Stadium

Taking to Instagram (18 June), the official club account wrote: “We will welcome Sunderland to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time on what would have been Bradley Lowery’s 15th birthday.”

Excited to play his former side at the Toffees’ new stadium, Pickford liked the announcement. Lowery, a much-loved figure in the world of football, passed away in 2017 at the age of six.

Football Insider verdict

Supporters are getting extremely excited about the potential signings on Merseyside this summer, but even despite the arrival of new owners, the Toffees are unlikely to splash the cash.

Everton are much more likely to target loan deals over the coming weeks, attempting to steadily rebuild the squad while staying in the Premier League, and not putting the club in a tricky position.

PSR has often been a concern for those on Merseyside over the last few seasons, with Farhad Moshiri slammed by supporters for his actions, but that no longer looks to be a problem.

In terms of potential signings, Man City’s Kyle Walker is open to joining Everton, it is understood, with the right-back’s career at the Etihad Stadium finished under Pep Guardiola.

Mick Brown also told Football Insider that Moyes is pushing to sign Vladimir Coufal, clearly targeting weaknesses at the full-back positions, but the striker position will need to be addressed.

Exciting times are certainly ahead for the Toffees, but only if TFG and Moyes can make the right signings.
