Jorgen Strand Larsen facing new Wolves ‘problem’ after exit latest

Jorgen Strand Larsen is facing a new issue at Wolves as he eyes a potential exit from Molineux after missing out during the summer.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 25-year-old’s performances so far this season could deter his suitors.

While his downturn in form has been widely linked to a recurring achilles injury, there have also been suggestions that his head has been turned by the interest.

Brown told Football Insider on 21 October that Wolves are concerned about Strand Larsen’s injury and fear it could result in a more serious issue.

This comes as the Norway international has scored just one goal in nine Premier League appearances alongside Wolves‘ disastrous start to the season.

Jorgen Strand Larsen dealt Wolves exit blow

Brown told Football Insider on 13 November that Strand Larsen is interested in leaving Wolves after his hopes of a summer move to Newcastle were dashed.

However, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that he must up his game if he wants to secure a move away.

Strand Larsen hasn’t done himself any favours this season,” he told Football Insider.

“There was a lot of talk about him in the summer because he’d had success with Wolves, scored a lot of goals and showed his quality in the Premier League.

“But his performances haven’t been the same this season, and for whatever reason that may be, it’s going to gave an impact on the interest in him.

“The problem is, if he’s not performing for Wolves, these clubs aren’t going to be as interested.

“Of course we know what he can do at his best, but they’ll be looking at him and wanting to see him take charge of this Wolves team and show he’s a at higher level.

“But like I said, he’s not doing that, so there are going to be some question marks over him.”

Wolves fear they will lose their best players

Despite the ongoing speculation about Strand Larsen’s future, Wolves are reluctant to lose their star players and hope they can avoid relegation and retain them.

However, Brown told Football Insider on 30 October that Wolves are concerned about losing star players if they suffer relegation from the Premier League.

Among those players is Joao Gomes, who has been a long-term target for some top sides and is now attracting renewed interest from Man United.

Football Insider exclusively revealed in January that Liverpool and Man United have been tracking Gomes, and that interest is now set to be reignited.

Gomes signed a new contract at Wolves in April to extend his stay until 2030, placing the club in a strong position, but there are doubts surrounding his future.
