Joshua Zirkzee reacts to Man United exit latest with message to Bruno Fernandes

Joshua Zirkzee has sent a message directly to Bruno Fernandes in the wake of major developments around the latter’s future at Man United.

The 30-year-old playmaker was one of the few bright lights in the Red Devils’ horrendous 2024/25 campaign, notching 19 goals and 18 assists across all competitions, but it could be his last in England.

Fernandes has been heavily linked with a Man United exit for Saudi Arabia this summer, with Football Insider understanding that the club would allow the midfielder to join Al Hilal if he decides to move.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano (3 June), the player has rejected a “crazy” contract proposal from the Saudi Pro League outfit, deciding to stay and fight at the top level in Europe.

Taking to Instagram stories (3 June), Zirkzee shared an image of himself screaming in Fernandes’s ear, simply captioned with the word: “Mood”.

The striker has notched just seven goals and two assists since joining from Bologna last summer, but despite his struggles in front of goal, supporters are excited to see more of him next term.

Ruben Amorim must rebuild Man United squad around current captain

Football Insider verdict

Ruben Amorim, who has already come under fire at Man United despite being in the job for just seven months, must do everything in his power to keep Fernandes at Old Trafford this summer.

Just because the 30-year-old has rejected an offer to join Al Hilal does not mean that he cannot seal a move away from the Premier League this season, with the Red Devils not fighting in Europe next season.

The club captain has remained a constant figure over the last five seasons, notching 98 goals and 86 assists during that time, and there is no doubt that he has more to give for the club.

Man United Fernandes

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man United are open to offers for Kobbie Mainoo, who could be set to follow Alejandro Garnacho out the exit doors following his bust-up with the manager.

A huge shake-up is expected over the coming weeks, with Amorim needing several players to match his much-wanted playing style, which worked incredibly well for Sporting CP.

Fans had hoped that the manager’s links back to Portugal could help Man United seal a move for Viktor Gyokeres, but it seems far more likely that a move to Arsenal is on the cards this summer.

That will certainly be a huge blow for United, but if they can keep hold of Fernandes for next season, the team already has a massive source of goals available on the pitch.
