Josip Juranovic may perform Celtic U-turn after confirmed news – pundit

Josip Jurnovic may still stay at Celtic despite the arrival of a new left-back.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s future.

According to Fabrizio Romano (20 June), Juranovic, 26, is expected to leave Celtic this summer amid interest from Premier League clubs.

On Thursday (30 June) Celtic announced the signing of Argentine left-back Alexandro Bernabei, their first senior signing of the summer.

Juranovic played 13 games as a left-back for the Hoops during the title-winning 2021-22 Premiership campaign.

Despite Bernabei’s arrival, Kenny claims this does not mean Juranovic is certain to leave this summer.

“It’s the last thing you want when there is talk of a player in the same position moving on,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“You need strength in depth and they are back in the Champions League next year. Maybe they are just strengthening different areas.

“They are going to need a bigger squad and they have that £40million to spend thanks to getting into the Champions League.

“That could be the reason but it’s something we will have to keep an eye on.”

Juranovic joined Celtic from Legia Warsaw after only spending one full season at the Polish club.

The right-back only joined the Hoops in the summer of 2021 and became a key player during the 2021-22 campaign, making 35 appearances in all competitions.
