Jota sends message to Celtic fans after comeback display

Jota has sent a message to Celtic fans after he made his emphatic return to the squad following his transfer back to the Hoops.

Brendan Rodgers’ side picked up an important three points in their title race by defeated Motherwell 3-1 at Fir Park to remain top of the Scottish Premiership.

Goals from Daizen Maeda, Adam Idah, and Jota wrapped up the performance to secure their 20th win of the season.

Jota made his first appearance after returning to the club during the January transfer window, replacing Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn in the 65th minute of the game.

The Portugal international wasted no time in reminding Celtic fans what he was capable of by finding the back of the net in the dying embers of the game.

It was his first appearance in 18 months following his transfer away from Celtic, and Jota was visibly emotional at the response from the traveling support.

Jota reminded Celtic fans of his quality

The 25-year-old returned to Glasgow after his £25million move to Al-Ittihad in 2023, but he then moved to Rennes the following season.

Jota took to Instagram to celebrate the win and let fans know what it meant to him by saying, “Well, that’s us with the heart full. Thank you!”

Rodgers’ team was weakened from an attacking perspective by the loss of Kyogo Furuhashi during the January window, but Jota has proven his ability to fill that gap.

The Portuguese winger had played 83 times during his initial spell at Celtic, scoring 28 goals and providing 26 assists as he became beloved by fans.

The Scottish giants will be back in action on Wednesday (5 February) when they face Dundee.
