Journalist: Heckingbottom has already ripped up one TC Leeds plan that flopped
Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom has already looked at amending the club’s disciplinary charter as one of his first actions as the new boss in order to tackle the ongoing issue at the club, according to a journalist.
The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay, who is a reputable source of information on everything surrounding the Whites, has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the former Barnsley boss demanded to see the paperwork which had been agreed by the playing squad at Elland Road, with the fear it was not having the desired effect.
The charter, as explained by Hay, defines the punishments in place for breaching rules at the club, which include picking up a red card among other misdemeanours, but it looks as though he will tear up the one set out by predecessor Thomas Christiansen following their issues this season.
The Whites have the worst disciplinary record in England’s second tier this season with 77 points against them coming from 53 yellow cards and six reds, three of which have been straight sending offs.
In addition, Samu Saiz was dismissed during the FA Cup defeat to Newport County for spitting, making it seven red cards in total for the season, four of which have come in the club’s last five games.
Heckingbottom’s first game in charge will see the club travel to Sheffield United in an early kick off on Saturday, with the Blades sitting two points and two places above the Whites.
