Journalist reveals Leeds star ruled out Birmingham clash in early team news
Leeds United midfielder Ronaldo Vieira will be missing from the club’s clash against Birmingham City on Saturday after failing to recover from an injury blow, according to a journalist.
The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the central enforcer is still suffering the effects after a nasty challenge in the 2-1 win over Burton Albion in their Boxing Day clash.
While he continued to play after seeing a Burton player fly into a shin-high challenge, which received only a booking from the referee, he was substituted after 77 minutes and appears to have sustained more serious damage than originally thought.
After a slow start to the season he has established himself as a first team regular under Thomas Christiansen, with 11 starts in the club’s last 12 matches, missing one game as a result of suspension after picking up two yellow cards against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Whites are looking to pick up their fifth successive win with three points at St Andrews, having put an end to their dreadful run of form which saw the club pick up three wins in 11 games, the rest coming as defeats.
Vieira played a crucial role in the win over Burton, setting up Kemar Roofe’s winner with a sublime through ball, after Pablo Hernandez had levelled the scores with an excellent free kick.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in the hunt for this highly-rated forward after his club, who won a European league title last season, gave him the green light to leave in January.
