Journalist reveals what Cole Palmer said to Enzo Maresca in Chelsea dressing room after ‘issue at end’ of Bayern clash

Cole Palmer has revealed to Enzo Maresca that he feels fine despite appearing to pick up a minor injury problem as Chelsea lost to Bayern Munich.

On Wednesday, 17 September, Chelsea were beaten 3-1 by Bayern Munich, largely thanks to England striker Harry Kane’s brace.

Meanwhile, in his first start since returning from a previous injury, Palmer scored in the 29th minute at the Allianz Arena.

However, the 23-year-old’s effort wasn’t enough to prevent Chelsea from losing against Bayern on 17 September.

Cole Palmer can feature for Chelsea against Manchester United

Amid Chelsea’s defeat at Bayern, attacking midfielder Palmer appeared to be struggling with a minor injury issue in the closing stages of the game.

However, after the final whistle had sounded, the England international is said by journalist Kieran Gill to have told Blues boss Maresca in the dressing room after the match that there is no major injury issue.

Consequently, Palmer will be able to feature when Chelsea face Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday, 20 September.

Enzo Maresca needs Cole Palmer to maintain his current form

After winning both the Conference League and the Club World Cup last term, Chelsea are vying to add more silverware to their increasingly illustrious cabinet.

The Blues were in top form when they thrashed West Ham United, before earning a 2-0 victory over West London rivals Fulham last month.

Since then, though, Maresca’s side have been held to a 2-2 draw by Brentford before being beaten by Bayern Munich in their Champions League opener.

Amid their poor form, Palmer has been a shining light for Chelsea, with two goals in his last two games.

Maresca needs his talisman to perform in the Stamford Bridge outfit’s clash with Man United on 20 September, while their upcoming Champions League outing against Benfica has become more important following their defeat in Germany.

The West Londoners must also avoid being on the wrong end of an upset when they face Lincoln City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, 23 September.
