England star Jude Bellingham responds to Birmingham City’s throwback message

Jude Bellingham’s former club, Birmingham City, are gearing themselves up for the Championship after winning the League One title.

Blues became third-tier champions by winning a remarkable tally of 111 points last season, suffering just three defeats in 26 league games.

Chris Davies’ men have been busy in the transfer market, while Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Birmingham want to sign Jamie Vardy.

The former England international notched nine goals in 35 Premier League appearances for Leicester City last term, and would be a real asset for Davies’ side in the Championship.

Bellingham responds as Birmingham look back on his time in the Championship

Bellingham is set to miss the start of the La Liga season after the Real Madrid superstar underwent shoulder surgery.

Meanwhile, Birmingham looked back on the 22-year-old’s time in the West Midlands via Instagram on Tuesday, 22 July, as they posted: “On this day in 2020, Jude Bellingham played his final game for the club.

“Once a Blue, always a Blue.”

The midfielder, who featured in England’s defeat to Senegal last month, commented with three blue heart emojis.

Birmingham can threaten the Championship promotion spots

The St Andrew’s club are eyeing a second consecutive promotion push, which was demonstrated when Birmingham signed Tommy Doyle from Wolves.

Doyle has previously performed well in the Championship for Cardiff City and Sheffield United, and should have what it takes to help Blues compete for promotion.

But while Davies continues to bolster his ranks in the West Midlands, the West Midlands outfit are also facilitating player exits, while striker Alfie May joined Huddersfield Town on Tuesday.

Football Insider have also exclusively revealed that Huddersfield want to sign Marc Leonard from Birmingham, as the West Yorkshire club vie to make a Championship return at the second time of asking.

Meanwhile, Blues summer signing Kyogo Furuhashi’s previous performances for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership suggest that he can excel at St Andrew’s.
