Jude Bellingham cited as Tottenham backed to seal ‘£70m’ signing – pundit
Alexis Mac Allister won’t join Tottenham unless they make the Champions League next season.
That’s according to former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ pursuit of Mac Allister.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes (14 December), the Lilywhites are one of four clubs interested in the 23-year-old with Inter Milan, Juventus and Atletico Madrid noted as admirers.
The midfielder’s contract at the AMEX runs until 2025 with the option of a further 12 months after agreeing an extension in October this year.
Mac Allister joined Brighton from Aregntinos Juniors in 2019.
The playmaker has been impressing at the World Cup and helped Argentina secure a place in the final.
The centre-mid was also on the score sheet in their final Group C clash against Poland.
But McAvennie has claimed Mac Allister will only be convinced by a move to Tottenham with a guarantee of Champions League football next season.
“They were saying he will cost £70million because [Jude] Bellingham’s worth £100m,” he told Football Insider.
“But the biggest problem with Mac Allister is that he is wanting to play Champions League.
“If Tottenham do not get that it does not matter how much they offer him he will want to play in the Champions League.”

Mac Allister has made 14 league appearances for Roberto De Zerbi’s side so far this seasons.
In those outings he has scored five goals.
