Jude Bellingham and Dominik Szoboszlai react to Luka Modric announcement

England star Jude Bellingham and Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai have reacted to a major announcement from Real Madrid legend Luka Modric.

While the Spanish giants boast an incredibly illustrious history, Modric will likely go down as one of their greatest ever players.

The Croatian star has won six Champions League trophies, four La Liga titles, and two Copa Del Rey titles since joining Los Blancos from Tottenham back in 2012.

Even though Modric is 39 years old, he has made 56 appearances for Madrid across all competitions this term, which is more than he had previously managed in a single campaign for the Bernabeu club.

Modric has continued to be a key player for Madrid this term

Modric confirmed his Bernabeu exit via an emotional Instagram post on 22 May: “Dear Madrid fans, I arrived in 2012 with the desire to wear the shirt of the best team in the world and with the ambition to do big things, but I couldn’t imagine what came next. Playing for Real Madrid changed my life as a football player and as a person.

“Throughout these years, I’ve experienced incredible moments, comebacks that seemed impossible, finals, celebrations, and magical nights at the Bernabeu. We won everything and I was very happy. Very very happy.

“But beyond the titles and victories, I carry in my heart the affection of Real Madrid fans. I really don’t know how to explain the special connection I have with you and how supported, respected, and loved I have felt and feel. I will never forget each ovation and all the gestures of affection you have shown me.

“Leaving with a full heart. Filled with pride, gratitude, and unforgettable memories. And even though, after the Club World Cup, I’m no longer going to wear this shirt on the field, I’ll always be a Madrid fan.

“We’ll see each other again. Real Madrid will always be my home for a lifetime.

“Hala Madrid.

“Luka Modric.”

Both Modric’s teammate Bellingham and Liverpool ace Szoboszlai liked the post.

Chelsea are unlikely to sign Madrid star Rodrygo

While Liverpool ace Trent Alexander-Arnold, Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, and Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso are all set to join Madrid this summer, perhaps the most defining moment of their summer transfer window could prove to be the departure of the legendary Modric.

Los Blancos have performed below their usual standards this term and were beaten by fierce rivals Barcelona in both the La Liga title race and the Copa Del Rey final.

Meanwhile, Premier League giants Chelsea have been linked with a move for Madrid forward Rodrygo, who has notched 14 goals and nine assists across all competitions this season.

However, the Stamford Bridge club are now unlikely to sign the 24-year-old, who has not scored since a Champions League last 16 tie with local rivals Atletico Madrid on 4 March.

Meanwhile, Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is set to join Brazil and will hope to achieve a victory in his final La Liga game against Real Sociedad on Saturday, 24 May.
