Jude Bellingham reacts to ‘tough’ Man City message from Erling Haaland after PSG

Erling Haaland shared a message on social media following the shock 4-2 Man City defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola’s side looked to be in control early in the second half, scoring two quick goals. Jack Grealish opened the scoring with a rebound from Bernardo Silva’s initial effort, and minutes later, his cross diverted and found Haaland, who doubled the lead.

However, the match turned into a nightmare for City, as PSG mounted a remarkable comeback to score four goals, leaving Guardiola’s men stunned. The loss brought back memories of their 3-3 draw against Feyenoord in November when they squandered a 3-0 lead.

The defeat has placed City under significant pressure in their Champions League campaign, with elimination now a looming threat.

Haaland addressed the loss on Instagram, posting: “Tough fight last night, we have to keep working and believing”.

Real Madrid and England superstar Jude Bellingham was among those to like the message.

Man City are in a season like no other under Pep Guardiola

Guardiola’s team find themselves in unfamiliar territory this season. They currently sit fifth in the Premier League, trailing title rivals Liverpool by a staggering 12 points.

Meanwhile, their Champions League struggles continue, as they sit 25th in the European standings, dangerously close to automatic elimination if they don’t win their final game.

Adding to the challenges, City are still dealing with the shadow of 115 financial charges hanging over them, leading to speculation that these legal troubles may have affected their performances on the pitch.

Despite this, Haaland’s commitment to the club remains unwavering. The Norwegian striker recently signed a lucrative nine-and-a-half-year deal [via mancity.com].

This has reassured fans and reinforced their belief that the club will overcome the charges due to the long-term deal, despite their poor form and potential charges.

Football Insider Verdict

Haaland’s long-term commitment at the Etihad, as evidenced by his extraordinary nine-year deal, and shows he’s ready to lead City into a new era. His goalscoring record has been nothing short of phenomenal, netting 79 goals in 87 Premier League appearances.

Even record-holder Alan Shearer has acknowledged Haaland’s potential, becasue if he continues at this pace, he will surpass Shearer’s all-time scoring record.

However, for Haaland to achieve this, City need to improve their performances. A rebuild seems to be underway, with three new January signings signalling Guardiola’s intent to revamp the squad.

The striker will spearhead this next chapter for the club as they aim to bounce back from their current struggles.
