Jude Bellingham responds to James Maddison’s message after ‘fall-out with Postecoglou’

James Maddison had a message of celebration for Tottenham fans after playing a key role in their Europa League quarter-final qualification.

Tottenham overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit against AZ Alkmaar with a strong performance at home, securing a 3-1 victory on the night and a 3-2 aggregate win.

Wilson Odobert was the standout performer, scoring twice in a crucial display, while Maddison also found the net after being picked out in the box by Heung-Min Son.

There was a brief scare for Spurs when a mix-up between Lucas Bergvall and Odobert gifted AZ Alkmaar an equaliser on aggregate, but Odobert’s second goal ensured Tottenham completed the comeback.

There have been suggestions that Maddison and Ange Postecoglou have fallen out, as he has slipped to fringes role at Spurs recently. Despite his ability to influence games, the playmaker has been used off the bench in recent Premier League fixtures.

However, regardless of any speculation, the midfielder once again proved his worth, delivering when it mattered and celebrating another European triumph with the Tottenham supporters.

Jude Bellingham and Djed Spence react as Maddison helps Tottenham advance in Europa League

Maddison shared a series of photos from the match on Instagram, captioning them: “European nights here in N17.”

Among those to react was Jude Bellingham, who responded with a dart emoji in reference to Maddison’s trademark celebration, while Djed Spence showed his appreciation by posting a magic wand emoji.

Other Tottenham players, including Dominic Solanke, Pedro Porro, and Mickey van de Ven, also showed their support by liking the post.

Maddison has faced scrutiny for his performances this season, but he continues to prove his ability to make an impact when it matters most.

He has made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists. However, he has started just 17 Premier League games, leading to speculation over whether there has been a breakdown in trust between him and Postecoglou.

Ange Postecoglou fights to keep trophy hopes alive amid mounting pressure

Postecoglou has come under increasing scrutiny from Tottenham fans as the team struggles in 13th place in the Premier League, with the Europa League now their only realistic shot at silverware.

Despite poor domestic form, the Tottenham hierarchy appear to be standing by the Australian manager.

If he can keep his promise of always winning something in his second season, and lead the club to European success—especially with Maddison back in top form—those pressures could quickly transform into renewed optimism for his future at the club.
