Jude Bellingham sends message to Alexander-Arnold following major Real Madrid announcement

Jude Bellingham has sent a message to new Real Madrid teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold, following a huge announcement.

Alexander-Arnold confirmed he was leaving Liverpool back at the beginning of May, which was met with anger and resentment from Reds fans.

The defender refused to sign a new contract at Anfield, which meant that Madrid were able to pick him up for free this summer.

After joining the academy at the age of six, the full-back worked his way up to the senior side, winning two Premier League trophies and a Champions League.

Real Madrid confirm Alexander-Arnold

Despite being able to secure his services for free from the start of July, Real Madrid wanted Alexander-Arnold for their Club World Cup campaign, which starts on the 18th June.

In the end, Los Blancos splashed £10million to sign him just a month earlier than originally planned, and officially announced the agreement on Friday (30 May).

The defender will now be available for Madrid’s game against Saudi side Al Hilal, as well as clashes with Pachuca and Salzburg.

Real Madrid will have Alexander-Arnold for their next three games

Alexander-Arnold will link up with international teammate Bellingham in Spain, with the midfielder set to start his third year at the club next season.

The former Birmingham and Borussia Dortmund man took to Instagram (30 May) to greet the right-back, posting a photo of the pair celebrating together on international duty, with the caption: “Welcome @trentarnold66.”

Alexander-Arnold must perform

Real Madrid already confirmed the signing of Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, after triggering his £50million release clause.

Los Blancos have not wasted time doing their business this summer, although it is not certain that everything will go smoothly for Alexander-Arnold in Madrid.

There is no doubt about his attacking talent, but during his time on Merseyside, the 26-year-old has faced a lot of questions about his defensive abilities.

Fans and pundits would often criticise the full-back for his lack of awareness and say that he didn’t put enough effort into stopping the opposition winger.

There are even rumours that Xabi Alonso will switch to a back five to accommodate Alexander-Arnold.

It will be interesting to see how the Liverpool academy graduate copes with the notoriously critical Spanish press, especially if he doesn’t hit the ground running in Madrid.
