Murty: Rangers have identified potential signings ahead of January

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has fired a blunt warning to his players telling them they are being “judged right now” as the club looks to finalise it’s transfer plans for January.

Murty watched his side fall to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock in his first game since being appointed as manager until the end of the season and reminded his players what is required to cope with the expectations of them from the Rangers support.

The Gers have already secured Declan John on a permanent deal and Murty could look to bring in several more players when the window officially opens on January 1st.

The former Scotland international has also revealed that the Light Blues have sounded out potential signigs ahead of the January transfer window, which opens in just over a weeks’ time.

“The recruitment work is ongoing and targets have been identified,” Murty said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“But before that happens behind the scenes we need to make sure the current players understand their roles and execute them.

“I’ve no doubt that I’m being judged right now by many people.

“And the players likewise. If you want to be at this football club you must have broad shoulders to cope with that.”

Murty has been in charge since Pedro Caixinha was sacked on October 26th but had been expected to step aside for a permanent appointment in January.

Instead, the Ibrox board have given the former Under-20’s head coach the chance to prove himself and make the job his own come June.

Murty has lost four of his ten games in charge since taking the reins with home defeats to Hamilton and St. Johnstone and away losses at Dundee and Kilmarnock.

In other Rangers news, four new signings are on the cards in January after the appointment of Graeme Murty until the end of the season.
