Julian Alvarez doesn’t fit in at Man City after what pundit has spotted
Alan Hutton has claimed Julian Alvarez does not fit in to the Man City team.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said City play a completely different style to Argentina, which could be a problem for Alvarez.
The 22-year-old became a World Cup winner after helping Argentina to victory over France.
The forward made seven appearances for the national team throughout the competition in Qatar and started five of those games, including the final.
Alvarez has struggled for starts under Pep Guardiola, with just three in 12 league appearances this season, and has failed to oust star striker Erling Haaland.
When asked if Alvarez could feature more regularly in the first team after his World Cup win, Hutton told Football Insider: “I do not see why we would not see more of him.
“I think the problem that he has is that in the Argentina team he fits in there. His attributes are perfect to play with someone like [Lionel] Messi. He is going to do his running, he is going to work hard.

“Man City play a completely different way. Their ball possession, they are trying to make things happen out on the wings. Haaland is going to play, that is the most difficult thing for him.
“But I still believe he has got his opportunities under Pep. They bought him for a reason, they could see what he was capable of before this World Cup. That is why they signed him. They have obviously got a plan for him.“
In other news, a pundit expects Erling Haaland to stay at Man City for ‘seven years’ as ‘offer’ suggested.
