Jurgen Klopp expected to axe two Liverpool stars after ‘huge statement’ – pundit
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will start Thiago Alcantara and Andy Robertson for the visit of Manchester City on Sunday.
That is the view of ex-Spurs and England number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about potential changes to the XI that beat Rangers 7-1 on Wednesday night.
Robertson made his return from injury as a second-half substitute in the emphatic win at Ibrox.
Thiago was replaced by Fabinho in the starting lineup for the Champions League clash.
The Reds welcome high-flying Man City to Anfield on Sunday with 13 points separating the sides in the table.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Liverpool’s likely lineup, Robinson said: “I think Robertson will come back in.
“It is a different game against Man City. Tsimikas has done well but I think Robertson will come back in.
“[Ibrahima] Konate has to stay in the side. He was brilliant against Rangers.
“I think Thiago will come back in for Fabinho or Henderson. I think he will play with just the two midfielders again against Man City. It seems to be Klopp’s preferred formation right now.

“The game has a different tone to it because of the nature of the win over Rangers. It was a huge statement win for Liverpool.
“I was worried for them heading into the Man City game at the weekend because of their form. But the Rangers game has changed my opinion somewhat. I think the win over Rangers will give them a different mindset.”
