Jurgen Klopp has one more season at Liverpool – ‘he won’t get away with it,’ says pundit
Jurgen Klopp “won’t get away with” another bad season at Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie insisted the Reds cannot be so far off Man City again next season.
Klopp’s side finished 5th in the Premier League last season, four points off a Champions League spot.
The Merseysiders also ended the season 22 points behind league winners Man City, despite only finishing a point behind them in the 2021-22 campaign.
Liverpool are undergoing a massive rebuild this summer and have already added Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and RB Leipzig’s Dominik Szoboszlai to their ranks.
Football Insider revealed (26 June) that the Reds have an “active interest” in Ryan Gravenberch, Khephren Thuram and Micky Van de Ven.
McAvennie insisted Klopp needs to get things right this season.
“I think Klopp knows he will not get away with the way they played last season again,” he told Football Insider.
“Even Jurgen was saying he did not understand how bad they were last year and sometimes you just do not. There is wonderful talent in the squad but they just were not doing it.

“Sometimes it does not click and if it that is the case then you have to change it. Sometimes you just need a player that is going to work their socks off.
“Liverpool cannot be 22 points away from Man City next season, the fans will not accept that.“
