Jurgen Klopp masking the truth from Liverpool fans as midfield signing on the way – pundit

Paul Robinson has suggested Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is masking his true feelings regarding further signings this month.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one is adamant Klopp wants to add at least one midfielder to his squad in January, and one could be on his way.

The Reds kicked off their transfer window by signing Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.

As quoted by the Mirror (1 January), Klopp slammed the public desire for more additions to follow claiming “we cannot play Monopoly.”

Liverpool are interested in signing a centre-midfielder but will likely have to wait until the summer for top target Jude Bellingham.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Klopp’s comments, Robinson said: “Look, Klopp will want a midfielder as well.

“Make no mistake about that. Gakpo has been signed as another forward option but he is not the solution to all of Liverpool’s problems. Jurgen Klopp will know that.

“What managers say publicly and what manager’s actually believe are two very different things. Klopp is not going to come out and say his midfield is not good enough because if he does not get one or two midfielders in he has to rely on his current midfielders to get him into the top four. It is just man-management. He has to look after the players he has in his table.

“They need to strengthen their midfield. They are not at the level they need to be.

“He knows that but he is not going to sit in a room full of press and say his current midfielders are not good enough and that he desperately needs to sign a midfielder.”
