Jurgen Klopp pays loving tribute after death of Liverpool star Diogo Jota

Jurgen Klopp paid a beautiful tribute to the late Diogo Jota after the death of the Liverpool forward was confirmed.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Reds from Wolves in the summer of 2020, passed away on Thursday, 3 July, following a devastating car accident in Cernadilla, in the province of Zamora.

His brother, Andre, also passed away in the traffic accident in the early hours of the morning, with emergency services confirming the fatalities at around 12:35am.

An outpouring of emotion has been sparked all across the world of football, with tributes being left outside of Anfield as supporters continue to remember the dynamic forward.

Klopp, who brought Jota to Merseyside on a £45million deal from Wolves [BBC Sport], is the latest of those close to the player to deliver an emotional message on social media.

Taking to Instagram (3 July), Klopp wrote: “This is a moment where I struggle! There must be a bigger purpose! But I can’t see it! I’m heartbroken to hear about the passing of Diogo and his brother, Andre.

“Diogo was not only a fantastic player, but also a great friend, a loving and caring husband and father! We will miss you so much!

“All my prayers, thoughts and power to Rute, the kids, the family, the friends, and everyone who loved them! Rest in peace. Love, J,” paying a beautiful tribute to the late forward.

Liverpool supporters are still coming to terms with the loss of one of their players, who has become part of the family at Anfield ever since his move from Wolves in 2020.

He made 182 appearances for the Reds, notching 65 goals and 22 assists, helping his side to the Premier League title last season, as well as the FA Cup in 2021/22, and the Community Shield in 2022/23.

The 28-year-old’s death, leaving behind a mourning wife, kids, and a whole devastated family, is a huge reminder that life is so much more than just football.
