Jurgen Klopp’s odds of being next Tottenham manager revealed amid Thomas Frank sack news

Jurgen Klopp is in the running to potentially take over the managerial reins at Tottenham in the coming weeks.

The German has been away from the dugout since he stepped down from his role as Liverpool boss at the end of the 2023-24 season, but he could now be just weeks away from a return to the Premier League.

Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that calls for Thomas Frank to lose his job at Tottenham are increasing in the aftermath of their heavy defeat in the North London Derby last weekend.

The Lilywhites are now three games without a win in the Premier League, having also been outclassed on home turf by Chelsea as part of that run.

Their Danish boss is coming under ever-increasing scrutiny from the fanbase, and that looks set to see speculation mount regarding a potential successor in the near future.

Jurgen Klopp is in the running for Tottenham job

Football Insider revealed on 13 November that Frank still has the backing of the Tottenham board, but that could soon change if there isn’t a reaction from the chastening Arsenal defeat.

The pragmatic style of the former Brentford boss has resulted in the North Londoners boasting a significantly stronger away record than at home so far this term, and that has irked several supporters of late.

Pressure is continuing to mount on Frank with every poor performance, and as a result, Spurs fans will surely have one eye on the current managerial market to see who is available.

Klopp is currently the global head of football for the Red Bull Group, but the Tottenham job could potentially create the perfect opportunity for him to return to full-time management in the near future.

The German is already in the running to take over in N17, as he currently sits among the leaders to take over from Frank, with odds priced at 16/1 at present.

What has Jurgen Klopp said about a Premier League return?

Klopp was briefly linked with the Leeds United job earlier this year, but the reality is that a return to a Premier League dugout away from Liverpool seems far-fetched.

The 58-year-old recently spoke on The Diary of a CEO podcast and emphasised that while a return to Liverpool would “theoretically be possible” in the future, he would “never” take charge of a different team in English football.

Plenty of managers have backtracked on statements like that in the past, but given Klopp’s heroic reputation among the red half of Merseyside, it feels highly unlikely that he would ever go against his word.

As a result, while he would undoubtedly be an exciting potential appointment for Tottenham, they will surely have to look elsewhere in the event of Frank’s dismissal.
