‘Just watch and admire’ – Tottenham fans react to youngster receiving first international start

By Aramide Oladipo

Tottenham fans have expressed their delight and pride on social media after it was confirmed that midfielder Harry Winks will make his international debut for the England national team.

The 21-year-old has been given a start in the middle of the park against Lithuania in the World Cup qualifier on Sunday afternoon.

The youngster will feature alongside club teammate Dele Alli and Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson in the midfield.

The Spurs man was called up to the senior squad for the first time last week to replace Fabian Delph and Phil Jones but he failed to get on the pitch in the midweek win against Slovenia at Wembley Stadium.

Once the news broke that Winks will be making his Three Lions debut, Spurs supporters took to social media to express their opinion and the majority believe that he will produce a great display.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Since breaking his way through into the Spurs first-team last season, Winks has impressed with his performances and shown a maturity beyond his young age.

The midfielder has bounced back from suffering an injury during the latter stages of the last campaign and he has managed to feature in seven matches for Spurs this season.

In other Tottenham news, this striker has suffered an injury blow before Spurs’ clash with Bournemouth.
