Juventus in fresh contact for Guglielmo Vicario, it could have serious ramifications for Liverpool

Juventus have made a fresh move towards striking a deal for Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in this summer’s transfer window.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Italian giants have made fresh contact with the Lilywhites in recent days, with a view to making a move for the 28-year-old ahead of next season.

The Old Lady are facing competition from Inter Milan for the shot-stopper’s signature, but they are hopeful that they may be able to strike a deal due to the North Londoners not having “excessive demands” for their number one.

Tottenham are said to value Vicario in the region of £21-£26million at the moment, but any hopes of a deal appear to rest on Juventus’ ability to raise a significant budget for their summer transfers.

Liverpool to watch closely as Juventus add Alisson to shortlist

Vicario appears increasingly likely to turn his back on the Premier League this summer in favour of a move back to his homeland, with Juventus once again making advancements towards Spurs.

However, there is concern over the budget that may be available for the Turin giants to spend in the market ahead of next season, and that has seen them add Liverpool star Alisson to their goalkeeping shortlist.

The Brazilian is set to enter the final year of his contract at Anfield in the summer, and as a result, Juventus expect the Reds’ demands to make it a cheaper deal than the one for Vicario.

Luciano Spalletti’s side are also taking further encouragement from the fact that Arne Slot and Co. may already have their replacement for Alisson in the building in the form of Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Alisson’s “reliability” and “experience” are major ticks against his name in the eyes of the Juventus hierarchy, who are adamant that they must address their goalkeeping department in the summer.

They may already have made a move towards Vicario as we head towards the end of the campaign, but if their budget ends up being tighter than anticipated, then it could have serious ramifications over at Liverpool.

Alisson spotted making ‘amazing’ switch vs Nottingham Forest

Alisson kept another clean sheet for Liverpool in their 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest last weekend, but Richard Keys has been keen to point out a moment that happened behind the player involving the gloveman.

Keys appeared to question Slot’s authority as manager in his latest blog, as he suggested that he had seen Alisson on the pitch at the City Ground trying to instruct the boss to make tactical changes during the game.

“Did I really see Alisson making changes on the pitch at Forest? There was one point where he ran to (Slot) and said something,” Keys wrote.

“I don’t know what, but very soon after, Szoboszlai moved into midfield and Curtis Jones went to right-back.”

It remains unclear as to whether Keys was correct in his assessment of the moment shared between the goalkeeper and his manager, but if true, it highlights the high level of respect that the 33-year-old carries at Anfield.

He has been a fantastic servant for the Reds in recent years, and to lose him this summer would be a major blow, even if he is perhaps not the long-term option for them anymore.
