Kalvin Phillips: Leeds ‘confident’ of finalising new deal as promise revealed – pundit
Leeds United will be “confident” of securing Kalvin Phillips to a new contract, according to Paddy Kenny.
The former Whites goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Elland Road club can fend off interest to renew the 26-year-old’s deal.
As quoted by the Daily Star (6 February), Phillips’ agent Kevin Sharp revealed Leeds United have promised the midfielder a new contract.

The midfielder committed his future to the Elland Road club in an interview with the Daily Mail last year (23 December).
Kenny claimed the delay in proceedings is simply part of the “due process” of a contract renewal.
“I think it’s just the natural process of sorting these things out,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s come through the ranks at Leeds. There’ll be a lot of clubs interested in him, but I’m 100 per cent sure they’ll get it sorted.
“These deals have to be right for all parties, but I’m sure it’s something Leeds will be confident they can get over the line.
“He’s playing a big part in the England setup now, and he’s massive for Leeds. When he’s not in the team they can really struggle.
“I’m sure this is just the due process of sorting the contract out.”
Phillips last played in early December after suffering a hamstring injury in a 2-2 draw against Brentford.
However, Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa revealed (11 February) the midfielder could return to action in March as he nears a full recovery.
Phillips, a Whites academy graduate, has played 226 games for the Elland Road club.
