Kalvin Phillips: Leeds United tipped to accept ‘£70m’ bid by Agbonlahor

Leeds United may be ready to sell Kalvin Phillips for £70million in the summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict as West Ham were linked with a shock late-window move for Phillips.

The Sun‘s Alan Nixon reported on Sunday (30 January) West Ham were making a record-breaking £50million bid for Declan Rice’s England midfield partner.

There is slight uncertainty over Phillips’ long-term future with his Leeds contract set to expire in the summer of 2024.

The 25-year-old told the Daily Mail last year (23 December) he wants to sign a new deal with his boyhood club and is “very happy” at Elland Road.

Phillips has been out injured since the Whites’ 2-2 draw with Brentford on 5 December and the club’s form has dipped as a result.

They have lost four of the six Premier League games the midfielder has missed and shipped 18 goals and not kept a clean sheet in the process.

Asked for his verdict on Phillips’ future after West Ham’s interest, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Leeds are not going to negotiate on Phillips unless it is around £70million and then I think they’ll accept.

“He’s a quality player with time on his side.

“West Ham are a million miles off it. They don’t even need Phillips, they’ve got Declan Rice.”

Phillips has played 226 times across all competitions for Leeds, scoring 14 goals and laying on 13 assists.

The 19-cap England international last signed a new deal with the Yorkshire giants in 2019 when they were in the Championship.
