Kalvin Phillips sends emotional message to Patrick Bamford after Leeds exit confirmed
Kalvin Phillips has issued an emotional message to former Leeds team mate Patrick Bamford after his departure from Elland Road.
Daniel Farke stated that Bamford was not in his plans this season at Leeds after seven years at Elland Road.
Bamford did not start a Championship match last season with Joel Piroe leading the line, and Farke has added Lukas Nmecha, Noah Okaford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to his options this summer.
Injuries have plagued Bamford’s time at the club, but his form under former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa proved to be the most productive, winning the 31-year-old an England cap.

Leeds need to act swiftly secure Kalvin Phillips reunion

Football Insider Verdict
Bamford has enjoyed an excellent period at Leeds, after the striker had been going out on numerous loan spells whilst at Chelsea.
Leeds became a home for Bamford, but recently under Farke his opportunities were becoming increasingly limited and with the step up to the Premier League, the German manager felt he could not rely on him.
Bamford is a proven Championship striker and there could be plenty of interest in him, and as a free agent there is no need to rush a deal before the transfer window deadline.

Leeds though need to move quick if they want to re-sign Phillips, a midfielder who needs to reignite his career.
Phillips needs to rediscover the form which earned him his move to Man City, and if Farke can achieve that then Leeds will would have a fine defensive midfielder in their squad.
