Kane blasted over ‘absolute shambles’ after Tottenham update from Athletic – Mills
Danny Mills has slammed Tottenham striker Harry Kane for the way he attempted to engineer a move to Manchester City this summer.
The former City defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, praised Spurs chairman Daniel Levy for “sticking to his guns” over the transfer.
Kane, 28, has started in games against Pacos de Fereira and Watford since confirming on Twitter he is to stay at Tottenham this season.
The Athletic reported last week (August 26th) that Levy refused to negotiate with Manchester City, who made a bid in excess of £120million.
They added that the Spurs chief was “furious” with the way that Kane tried to engineer the switch, following his bombshell interview with Gary Neville in May.
Mills claimed that the relationship between Levy and the striker is bound to have soured.
“The relationship is going to be a little bit strained,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“Fair play to Daniel Levy, he’s stuck to his guns and said – ‘Unless we get a ridiculous fee, you’re staying’.
“We’ve had all this speculation about a gentleman’s agreement, about coming back from training on time, and more.
“None of this has come from Levy. It’s all been started by Harry Kane and the interview with Gary Neville.
“Tottenham just kept their powder dry, the way it has been dealt with by Kane and his PR team is an absolute shambles.
“Why not come out and reveal this gentleman’s agreement? Harry Kane has not come out looking good in this, it’s an absolute mess.”

The England captain is under contract at Tottenham until 2024, after signing a six-year deal in 2018.
Kane has netted 223 goals in 339 Tottenham appearances.
In other news, Paul Robinson fears that Spurs have another “Eriksen situation” on their hands.
