Karl Hein: Arsenal star undergoing Real Valladolid medical after hijack

Real Valladolid have agreed a deal to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

Hein had been in advanced talks to join League One side Charlton, but the Spanish side have hijacked them with a late move for the 22-year-old.

The two clubs have now reached a full agreement and the Estonia international is set to undergo his medical in the next 24 hours.

The Arsenal goalkeeper will join Real Valladolid on loan for the upcoming season and it will provide him with the chance to get regular action.

Arsenal are in the process of overhauling their goalkeeping options and Hein may not be the only first-team shot-stopper to leave the club.

Football Insider revealed (July 31) that the club would be open to letting Aaron Ramsdale leave on loan with Nottingham Forest interested in the Englishman.

Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein set for Spanish loan

Hein has played every minute of Arsenal’s pre-season so far with David Raya and Ramsdale still yet to join up with the first team following their Euro 2024 exploits.

The goalkeeper has climbed up through the youth ranks at Arsenal but has only made one senior appearance since breaking into the senior squad.

Since the addition of Raya the Spaniard has established himself as Mikel Arteta’s first-choice goalkeeper so barring any injury crisis Hein will find opportunities hard to come by.

La Liga new boys Real Valladolid earned promotion to the Spanish top flight last season by finishing second, two points behind eventual champions Leganes.
