Keith Wyness disputes Man City 115 charges outcome claim

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Man City are not likely to learn their financial charges fate until Easter despite a claim from journalist Martyn Ziegler.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested an appeal is then likely to elongate the process once a verdict is reached.

Man City’s financial charges hearing has now finished after starting on September 16 in central London at the International Dispute Resolution Centre.

Times journalist Ziegler has claimed (9 December) City could learn their fate as soon as the end of next month.

The club were originally charged in February 2023 with alleged breaches covering the period between 2009 and 2018.

115 charges were initially levelled at City but that figure has now increased to 130 after an error in the classification of the alleged breaches.

Man City decision not likely until Easter, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “We heard the closing arguments in the last week.

“It’s coming to the end of this particular stage now. But considering they heard 12 weeks of evidence, there’s now 12 weeks of evidence to go through.

“I still don’t expect much until Easter.

“One journalist in the UK, Martyn Ziegler, has said he thought there could be something in the next month.

Man City

“I just don’t see it. I think we’ll be waiting until at least Easter.

“Then, of course, we’re into appeals – depending on the judgement.”
