Keith Wyness drops exciting ‘£15m’ Everton training ground claim
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed the club could benefit from a “first-class” training facility with just “£10-15million” of investment.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted it won’t take huge money for prospective new owner Dan Friedkin to give the club a top Premier League facility.
American billionaire Friedkin struck an exclusivity agreement to buy Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake in the Merseyside club last Friday (21 June).
Finch Farm originally opened in 2007 and is owned by Liverpool City Council, who spent £4million on improvements in 2016.
Leicester and Aston Villa are among the Premier League clubs to open state-of-the-art training grounds in recent seasons.
Everton could invest ‘£15m’ to make Finch Farm ‘first-class’, says Wyness
Wyness claimed potential improvements at Finch Farm could include increasing the area and building a dedicated hotel.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I don’t think Finch Farm needs too much investment.
“I built the facility during my time at the club and it’s been upgraded since then, so you’re working from a very good facility straight away.
“Another £10-15million would make it as good as anything else in the Premier League.

“There is land around it to expand, so it’ll be a case of increasing the size of the area or building a hotel.
“Overall, Friedkin won’t have to spend too much to make it first-class.”
