Keith Wyness impressed as Everton close in on deal, reveals what it means for PSR
Dean Rastrick would be a welcome addition to Everton as he holds talks over becoming the club’s next Academy Manager.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, as Everton are in talks with Rastrick over the role.
Rastrick is currently Head of Football Development at Championship club Norwich, and has previously worked at Tottenham.
Everton are looking to become more profitable through their academy and drive overall revenue at the club to boost success on the pitch.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Rastrick’s experience points to him being a “very good” Academy Manager.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the role is “very attractive” to prospective candidates.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Yeah, look, I don’t know him, but I did some checking. Although he’s at Norwich and has been there before, he had a long period at Spurs and I think he was very well thought of when he was at Spurs.
“I think his experience does point to the fact that he could be a very good Academy manager. Now, the difference is, if you remember, we talked about PSR issues with Everton over the last few seasons and we’ve had to sell, you know, some of the crop, if you like, of talent from the Academy to be able to meet PSR.
“And that’s some of the players who wouldn’t want to have been let go. Now, things like the shirt sponsorship we just discussed mean that Everton is not pushed for cash as much as it was before. So now, having the crop coming through for the academy and not just being sold to try and balance the books, we’re going to be able to keep them and push on.
“So that Academy Manager role will be very attractive for somebody. And I think it’s going to be a pretty key part of the club going forward. So yes, some fresh blood coming in, somebody with good experience.
“Spurs have always had a reasonable academy going through, so let’s see what he could do. But yes, I think a positive appointment.”

Everton well placed to agree £60m deal
Wyness told Football Insider that Everton are looking for a £60million new shirt sponsor deal for the start of next season.
Japanese car manufacturer Toyota are rumoured to be Everton’s next sponsor to replace gambling company Stake.
Stake are unable to continue as the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor due to new gambling restrictions that come into force from the start of the 2026-27 season.
