Keith Wyness shares huge Everton stadium update
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed the club could conduct a “review” of capacity at their new stadium within five years of its opening.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested revenue would play a big part in the decision to potentially expand the Bramley-Moore Dock arena.
According to The Athletic (25 October), there have been “whispers” of the incoming Friedkin Group ownership increasing the size of the state-of-the-art new ground.
There is reportedly some scope to expand the east side of the £750million, 52,888-seater stadium if there is “genuine demand” for it.
Everton are set to move in for the 2025-26 campaign with test events to be held in the new year.
Everton could ‘review’ stadium capacity within five years, says Wyness
Wyness insisted “scarcity value” could help the club boost revenue in the early years of the stadium’s legacy.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It’s a fantastic new stadium.
“I don’t think we’re talking about doing any expansion immediately. We’re almost finished with the build now.
“We want the club in there for test events in the new year.
“I think if there was a review of capacity, it would come maybe after five years in the new stadium.

“That’s when the club could review the revenue situation. I’ve been in this situation before, making a decision about capacity – it isn’t easy.
“There is also a thing about scarcity value which keeps the revenue at the top level.”
