Keith Wyness ‘surprised’ by what he’s seen from Youssef Chermiti at Rangers
Youssef Chermiti has been a “surprise” at Rangers but can turnaround his career if he builds about his recent transformation.
That is according to ex-Aberdeen, Aston Villa, and Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, after Chermiti scored a hat-trick for Rangers in a 4-2 win over Hearts.
Chermiti had only scored four goals, including a double against Celtic in the last Glasgow derby, before his hat-trick against the league leaders.
The victory was a crucial one for Rangers, with Hearts now leading the Scottish Premiership table by just two points.

Keith Wyness ‘surprised’ by Youssef Chermiti
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the Rangers fanbase will not mind Chermiti only “turning up for the big games.”
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the striker’s hat-trick against Hearts has eased some of the problems between him and the supporters.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Yeah, it’s funny, isn’t it? He seems to turn up for the big games and certainly the fans won’t mind that at all. I think they’d like to see more from him in the other games, but nevertheless, if you’re scoring against Celtic and against Hearts, right now the fans are going to love you, to get a hat-trick especially.
“Look, Chermiti, I think he looked quite good when I saw him at Everton quite a few times. He had something. And I’m surprised he hasn’t gone on a bit further than what he has done at Rangers at the moment.
“But certainly to score in the big games has quietened down a lot of the problems that were going on with the Rangers fans about the signing of Chermiti.”

Rangers star could push for summer exit
Whilst Chermiti may have reignited his career at Ibrox, fellow striker Bojan Miovski remains on the fringes of the squad.
Miovski could look to leave Rangers if his playing time does not improve, with the 26-year-old only having joined from Girona last summer.
Despite an impressive record previously at Aberdeen, Miovski only has four goals in 21 Scottish Premiership appearances this season.
