Keith Wyness urges Fosun to accept Wolves takeover offer after ‘severe’ fans mutiny
Wolves’ only ambition this season is to beat Derby’s record low tally of 11 Premier League points.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Rob Edwards will need to backed if Wolves are relegated to the Championship.
Edwards’ appointment as Wolves manager has not changed the club’s on-field fortunes, with the Old Gold rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table with just two points.
Wolves’ 2-1 defeat at Arsenal means Edwards’ side are 14 points adrift of safety after 16 games this season.
Rob Edwards has a huge task at Wolves
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has called supporters’ protests against the club “pretty severe.”
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes Molineux is not a good place to be right now.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “At two points, I still think for the season they’re going to have a job to beat Derby’s 11-point record. So, you know, we’ll be watching, but that’s the challenge right now.
“They seemed to lose heart against Manchester United. The fans’ protests were pretty severe. And so it’s not a happy place to be at Molineux.
“And you can only hope that either Fosun do a quick sale to somebody who’s going to look at them bringing them up from the Championship or else they stick with them and back them properly to get them back up.
“Either way, it’s going to be Rob Edwards trying to get them up rather than Middlesbrough. So we’ll be watching, but it’s not a great thing to be looking at right now.”

Wolves’ firm takeover stance
Wolves’ ownership are not looking to sell the club, due to their likely relegation to the Championship and decrease in value.
Fans want Fosun to sell up and chairman Jeff Shi to leave the club, but they have yet to cave in to protests at home matches.
The club also risk losing their best players in January, with Joao Gomes the most likely to depart amid interest from Man United.
