Kenny: Everton duo have proved I was spot-on about Benitez
Everton boss Rafael Benitez will feel vindicated after the performances of new signings Andros Townsend and Demaria Gray last Saturday.
So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Toffees’ victory over Brighton on 28 August.
Gray scored his second goal for the Toffees, while Townsend was a menace in his fourth successive appearance for his new club.

Townsend signed on a free transfer following his exit from Crystal Palace this summer, and Gray joined days later in a reported £1.7million deal.
Kenny insists that any “doubts” Everton fans might have had about the pair have been allayed by their start to life at Goodison.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “Benitez will see it as proof that he’s made the right moves in the transfer market.
“They didn’t cost a lot of money and they both had excellent games the other day. It just goes to show you what they can do.
“I am sure working under Benitez will be a big advantage to them. I know they are experienced players, but everyone is always learning.
“There were some doubts over them when they signed because they were both really cheap.
“But I knew all along that Benitez knew what he was doing. They are quality signings, I’ve always liked both of them.“
Townsend scored his first Everton goal against Huddersfield Town in the League Cup last week.
Gray meanwhile also netted in the 2-2 draw with Leeds United on 21 August.
