Kenny gutted by potential Rangers blow after team news update pre-Celtic
Paddy Kenny has claimed Rangers may be dealt a big blow with several players doubts for Sunday’s clash with Celtic.
The former Leeds goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted he was gutted the Light Blues might not be at full strength for the first Old Firm of the season.
As quoted by the Daily Record (26th August), Gary McAllister revealed Rangers could have five players who missed the 0-0 draw with Alashkert back for Sunday.
John Lundstram and Kemar Roofe sat out Thursday’s clash through suspension.
First-team regulars Allan McGregor, Jon McLaughlin, Ryan Kent, James Tavernier, Calvin Bassey and Scott Wright were among the others absent.
McAllister’s comments suggested the Light Blues could be without at least four senior players.
Kenny suggested Rangers would now be sweating over their hopes of sealing victory.
“It’s the biggest game of the season and they’ll want every player available,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“If there are multiple players out then they won’t be at full strength.
“It weakens their chance of beating Celtic.
“It’ll be something they’re not happy about but hopefully we can see both teams at full strength for a really good, exciting Old Firm derby.”
The Bhoys also cemented their group stage place in the Europa League after scraping through against AZ Alkmaar.

Both sides have won two out of three league games and currently sit on six points apiece.
