Kenny issues ‘unbelievable’ Rangers verdict after what he saw against Celtic
Rangers could go on a winless run in the Scottish Premiership after being left “shattered” by their recent loss to Celtic.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider ahead of a big week for the Gers.
Celtic’s 3-0 win over Rangers on Wednesday (2 February) puts them a point clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with 14 games to play.
The Gers are next in action on Sunday (6 February) when third-placed Hearts visit Ibrox.
They then travel to Hearts’ Edinburgh rivals Hibs in midweek and Kenny claims this could be the start of a winless streak for the Gers.
“That is a hard thing to recover from,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I’ve been in a few of those games where you look round and think ‘where do we go from here?’.
“Rangers have been through a lot this season. I think Gerrard’s departure hit them harder than they would like to admit.
“He did an unbelievable job there and then he was just gone, almost overnight.
“it’s hit them hard and losing 3-0 to Celtic will have shattered them, mentally.
“How do they respond to that? Sometimes you don’t. You have seen teams not fully recover after results like that.
“It was the manner of the defeat as well, which was unbelievable for Rangers. From what I’ve just seen there is a danger Rangers go a few games without winning now.”

Wednesday’s victory was Celtic’s first Old Firm win since December 2019 and their first in the league since September 2019.
The next Glasgow derby is scheduled for 3 April at Ibrox.
